Concepts of the technique
The leak sealing under temperature and pressure technique was developed
in the middle of 1960s for the repair and maintenance of equipments
and pipes. When undesirable spray of liquid from equipment, pipe and
instrument under temperature and pressure in a flow work process occurs
at oil refining, chemical, fertilizer, thermoelectric, metallurgical
or pharmaceutical plant, this technique is used to seal leaks rapidly
under temperature and pressure. Meanwhile, the plant remains on-line
and normal production process is not affected.
Principles of the technique
When leak occurs at various parts of linking facilities, such as pipes,
flanges and valves, the leaking media will flow out and/or spray.
We employ leak sealing under temperature and pressure technique to
build a new airtight cavity on the leaking place. To do so we use
special sealing tools to inject the plastic sealant, which is resistant
to the leaking media and temperature, into the airtight cavity. The
sealant will fill up the airtight cavity and become solid quickly,
and form a new fixed sealing structure to eliminate equipment leaks.
Components of the technique
The leak sealing under temperature and pressure technique consists
of the following components: design and manufacturing of clamps, application
of special sealants, special sealing tools, operation instruction
and safe work.
Among those components there are two prerequisites
for the successful implementation of leak sealing under temperature
and pressure: selection, design and manufacturing of clamps and
appropriate selection of sealant. Special tools are important to
implement the technique. The correct operation and safe construction
are critical to successfully implement the technique.
Characteristics of the technique
1. It is not necessary to lower the temperature and pressure on
the production facilities
during the leak sealing process, that is, the operation is conducted
on-line.
2. Leak sealing can be completed without utilizing
fire.
3. Special treatment of the leaking surface is not
necessary, which makes the leak sealing
simple and quick.
4. The new sealing structure will not destroy the original sealing
surface and is easy to
disassemble. After we seal leaks in the disassembly joint structure
such as flanges
and screw thread joints, we can disassemble the structure used for
leak sealing and
restore the original structure.
5. The application of the technique can rapidly stop leaking media
from polluting the
environment, which is beneficial to the environment preservation.
6. The leak sealing under temperature and pressure technique can
guarantee the safety and
continuing operation of production facilities and help enterprises
to gain
considerable economic and social benefits with trivial cost.
